Every Smile Begins with an Initial Consultation

Your initial consultation will give you the opportunity to meet our orthodontist, take a tour of our office and learn more about orthodontics. We will also:

  • Provide a complete oral exam
  • Take X-rays, as needed, to determine whether treatment is necessary
  • Take extraoral and intraoral photos
  • Create a customized treatment plan
  • Answer questions and address concerns
  • Discuss all financial information, insurance options, and payment plans
  • Review your dental and medical history forms filled out at the visit

Our team will be glad to answer any questions you may have, and we will provide all of the information that you need to determine which treatment is right for you.

Financial Information

During your initial consultation, we will sit down and review all fees with you. Fees for orthodontic treatment will depend on your treatment and will vary accordingly. We will work together to provide a convenient payment plan and are flexible in discussing various plans to suit your specific needs. If you are interested in full payment, our office will offer a fee reduction as a bookkeeping courtesy. We accept cash, Visa, MasterCard, debit cards and checks.

We accept most PPO insurance plans and will process the insurance forms as a service to our patients. Our office is committed to help our patients maximize their benefits. However, due to varying insurance policies, we can only estimate your coverage and cannot guarantee coverage due to the complexities of insurance contracts. Your estimated patient portion must be paid at the time of service.

What Happens after the Initial Consultation?

After your consultation, we will then schedule your next corresponding appointment. If the plan is to receive full braces, a “bonding” appointment will be made. We recommend that you visit your dentist prior to beginning treatment to make sure all dental and periodontal problems are taken care of. On the day of your bonding appointment, we will go over informed consent and place your new orthodontic appliance. Afterwards, we will review how to brush and floss more efficiently. This appointment generally takes about an hour.

Scheduling Appointments

Visiting the orthodontist every four to eight weeks is an important part of your orthodontic treatment. When appointments are missed, treatment duration will be longer. We want to work together to efficiently produce the best results possible. Our practice will work with you to make sure that your appointments are as convenient as possible. When scheduling appointments, please let us know what days and times work best for you, and we will do our best to accommodate you.

Visiting the Dentist during Orthodontic Treatment

It is very important that you continue to visit your general dentist every six months during your orthodontic treatment for teeth cleanings and routine dental checkups. Plaque and calculus build up is faster with braces, and it is important to keep your gums and teeth healthy. If extra dental care is needed, we will be happy to coordinate with your dentist to make sure that you are receiving the best care possible.
