Many orthodontic patients want to perfect their smiles but do it as discreetly as possible. If that’s you, clear aligners may be just what you’re looking for. Clear aligners offer a comfortable, removable, and discreet way to get your ideal smile.
There are several different companies who make aligners today, such as Invisalign and Spark. So how can you know which aligner is right for you? Dr. Catherine Woo explains a bit more about aligners.
What are clear aligners?
Clear aligners, like traditional braces, work to correct misaligned teeth and bites. Patients love them because they are virtually invisible, as well as being removable, offering a high level of discretion.
The aligner trays are made of BPA-free plastic and are designed to be comfortable. The smooth aligners won’t irritate the inside of your mouth as can happen with traditional bracket and wire braces.
Treatment using clear aligners begins with a smile assessment, using 3D scanning. This will help Dr. Woo create your customized treatment plan. Once your aligners are ready, you’ll wear them as directed by Dr. Woo and sit back and watch your beautiful new smile take shape.
Once your aligners are ready, you’ll receive a series of trays. Each set is calibrated to achieve a precise movement, so it’s important to wear the aligner trays in the correct order, and for as long as directed. Each set will be worn for 22 hours a day for approximately two weeks before moving to the next set.
How much do Spark or Invisalign aligners cost?
The cost of clear aligner therapies are very similar in price, so you won’t see a huge difference in cost from brand to brand. Today, the cost of aligners is also very similar to the cost of traditional braces. That means you can receive all of the advantages that come with clear aligners for almost what you’d pay for metal braces. The exact cost of orthodontic treatment is dependent on several things, such as the severity of your orthodontic issue.
Are clear aligners right for me?
Clear aligners, such as Invisalign and Spark, offer many wonderful advantages to orthodontic patients of all ages. However, to determine if it is the right orthodontic treatment for you, it is best to schedule a consultation with an orthodontist. After a consultation, your orthodontist will understand your unique smile challenges and can recommend the treatment deemed best for you.
