Ceramic Clear Braces Bronx, NY

Ceramic and clear braces work the same as metal braces but are made of either tooth colored or clear material, allowing the brackets to blend in better with the natural smile.

Ceramic braces are slightly more expensive than metal braces. The brackets are more brittle than metal braces, meaning they can break more easily. It is important to follow all care guidelines to ensure to take proper care of your braces.

Ceramic braces are an excellent option for older patients who have all of their permanent teeth and who are looking for a more discreet way to straighten their smile.

Ceramic Clear Braces FAQ

Can ceramic braces move my teeth as metal braces?

Typically, treatment times for ceramic braces are a bit longer than treatment times with metal braces. This is because the ceramic braces have more friction with the wire compared to metal braces.

Will ceramic braces stain?

While your brackets typically won’t stain, the elastic ties that hold the brackets to the wires can. It’s important to brush and floss often, and to avoid foods and drinks that can lead to staining ie. red pasta sauce, red wine, coffee, tea, curry, turmeric etc. or else brush right after eating these foods to lessen staining. You should also refrain from smoking or using tobacco products.

Can ceramic braces damage my teeth?

Ceramic braces can cause wear and tear to the enamel of your teeth when biting or chewing. The material they are made from is naturally abrasive, and when placed on the lower teeth, the brackets can sometimes cause damage to the enamel on the back of the top front teeth. This is the reason why we usually only recommend ceramic/clear braces on the upper teeth and metal braces still on the lower teeth.

Will insurance cover the cost of ceramic or clear braces?

If you have orthodontic coverage, your insurance should cover a portion of the cost of ceramic or clear braces. Because these braces are more expensive than traditional braces, your out-of-pocket cost may be higher.
